Amazed at God!
God continues to amaze me over and over again. Last night I was giving a friend a very simple sewing project she requested and she handed me a check for supplies for Cuddle Gran's!
Earlier today I received a call from my aunt, she wanted to know what size material to cut for me out of her stash!! (She is a quilter) She is also giving me a rotary cutter and board!
Monday of this week, I picked up material and ribbon a lady at church had cut out for me!
God continues to bless this ministry!

How it all started
My journey on the path of my blankees originated out of pain...the unexpected death of my mother, Ima Tooley, and better known to my kids as Gran. After Mom's death, as we were going through and sorting her belongings, I was given her sewing machine. It was only a year old and with it came years of fabric and sewing "stuff" that she had accumulated. One problem...I have never sewn!!! Mom and Dad had given me a simple sewing machine for Christmas one year and it sat in the closet unused, other than the few times I would drag it out to simply hem a garment or prove to myself I could at least thread the darn thing. Growing up, Mom wanted so badly for me to have the passion she did for sewing. She could make anything and did when time allowed. I did pay attention to threading of the machine and what I would call sewing 101:)
Now fast forward to last Fall. You see, I do have a passion for children, especially children who need Hope! I LOVE OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD! This was my way of sending a small box of Hope to children all over the world. Even though my personal finances were a little tight, (I'm a stay at home Mom again and love it most days), I organized my first packing party. My baby boy had been given a taggie blanket as an infant. I was looking around his room as to what I could add to the shoeboxes and there was his blanket. Surely I can make that! I dug through my closet, dusted off the machine, and started sewing! Before I knew it I had made a few..ok more like 30! Then I started making other little things to put in the boxes out of my scraps I made drawstring little pouches for marbles, jacks, etc. Thanks to friends, my son's girlfriend, and her sorority, we were able to pack 80 boxes for Operation Christmas Child!! They all had something in them I had made. All of the children boxes 2-4 age had a blankee from me. I kept on making the blankees.
I am also on the team at church to go thru every box we send to OCC and make sure its contents are ok. So I was able to stuff about 50 more into boxes that we were organizing and sorting.
Last December my daughter, sister in law, and myself volunteered at the OCC Processing Center in Dallas for 2 days. It was amazing!! My first experience at true serving!
Then I was asked if I wanted to go with the church missions team to Honduras What? me? I was super excited! I never thought I would get the opportunity to actually go! After about 2 weeks of being overjoyed, I didn't feel the timing was right. I backed out of the trip, however while still having a desire and passion for the children of Honduras. I checked with a friend who had just gotten back into the states after serving years at the Good Shepherd Children's Home in Honduras, Julie McKenzie, and asked if she thought they may could use some blankees for the home? She said yes!! So even though I am not going to Honduras I am able to send a small gift from the Lord to HIS children in Honduras!! I am sending 42 blankees with the team next week!
I have been able to share what God is doing in my life thru this ministry at a couple of churches and LOVE telling anyone that will listen. It is very humbling and I hope encouraging to others when I share about how this came about and how God is showing Himself in it. He is amazing!
I am able to make these almost entirely from material, ribbon, and monies that have been donated. It is so exciting to watch God work!
My next group of blankees are going to China at the end of this month. I love that the Lord has given me this passion..not for sewing but for loving on children all over the world! My Mom would be so proud that I am actually using the machine and that I am doing it all for the glory of The Lord. So in her honor I have named my blankees Cuddle Gran's. And besides helping to provide a small gift of love to children around the world, my sewing time is a special time of relaxation, reflection, and rememberance of my mother. I am a simple stay at home mom of 4 children and my new motto is Whatever you do, do EVERYTHING for the glory of The Lord !! 1 Corinthians 10:31
